Wesley the Robot Giving a Fall Concert Preview!
Maybe it’s just that I’m becoming more attuned to what’s happening in the central New York area, or maybe it’s just that concerts in the area are getting better, more affordable, closer etc. Either way, there are some prime opportunities coming up in the next few months for concert goers to see some good bands who have just put out some great albums this summer and fall and I wanted to take the time to share them with you. Quitzow Performs at the Barn in Volney, NY Saturday July 10th
Emily Quitzow is an artist out of New Paltz/NYC who combines orchestral and electronic elements into witty post punk pop tunes. Her performance in Volney is unexpectedly close to home, but sure to be a hit.
Dragonette and Dan Black Play at Big Orbit's Soundlab, Buffalo NY Monday Aug 9
Dragonette with Dan Black at Big Orbit’s Soundlab is sure to be the best show and deal of the summer. Two prime, electronic tinged acts, for $12. Dan Black’s ((UN)) and Dragonette’s “Our Summer Volcano” are some great albums that show off artists with great depth. This is one show to be sure not to miss.
Vampire Weekend Plays at the Armory in Rochester, Friday NY September 10
Vampire Weekend are set to play Rochester’s Armory on Friday September 10th. The wildly popular band is playing in a venue that Bright Eyes, Death Cab for Cutie and others have played in.
Stars is Playing in Rochester on Wed. 9/22 Town Ballroom in Buffalo Wed 11/24
The Canadian electro/indie/pop group stars is set to play not one, but two shows in New York. One at The Water Street music hall in Rochester and another at Buffalo’s Town Ballroom. After their performance at Cornell last year, you can count me in on some more Stars performances.
