Eugene Francis Jnr has the most confusing profile information I’ve read on an artist in quite a while. He is Welsh, but his parents were Apache and Inuit. People think he is American. He describes his blue eyes as “pulchritudinous”.
Backed by his bionic band the Juniors, Eugene Francis Jnr professes to discard effects and “21st century bunk” and play with a weak voice with a strong passion, the latter I don’t doubt, but the man’s sonics are akin to The Flaming Lips, with a distinct electronic psychedelic edge. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. In fact, his modest vocals, optomistic lyrics, and penchant for clear crisp melodies sound pretty good.
It’s Thanksgiving, so that means I am going to do a little extra today by posting my radio show track by track, including my custom little promotional advertisements, which I enjoy way too much. Keep an ear out for next week, there’s going to be even more ridiculous promos, which are my favorite thing ever right now. AZLTRON Station ID #1
MP3 – Unlucky In Love – Greg Summerlin Greg Summerlin’s latest album “All Done in Good Time” is a sunny trek through coming of age pop rock spectacle. The songs are grand and ideal even when they’re taken down to the acoustic level. Obvious single “Unlucky In Love”, is sure to garner Summerlin a lot of attention due to it’s insanely catchy chorus and super bouncy keyboard hook. Other album standouts include “Paintaker”, a rock number complete with falsetto and a fret board melting guitar solo. My personal favorite on the album, “He’s a Faker” is built on a wild organ hit and a chorus that needs to be shouted from the rooftops. All Done in Good Time is the perfect companion for an optimistic autumn. MP3 – The Paintaker – Greg Summerlin
“Unlucky In Love”, the debut track off of Greg Summerlin’s new album “All Done in Good Time” is the kind of chewy addictive pop that will have you setting your mp3 player to repeat. The bouncy keyboards and the infections chorus of this song will be jumping around in your head for days.
