Iggy Pop.. The Puppet! Plus Remixes!

The BPA has released the official video for their single “He’s Frank” featuring Iggy Pop… as a puppet! The puppetized punker gets to some punching toward the end of the video. Very entertaining. In addition to this there are 8, count ‘em 8, remixes of the single available here.

The BPA release Iggy Pop Video of "He’s Frank", and More!

The BPA have released the backing video that Norman Cook has been using during his performances of the track that features Iggy Pop on vocals. Pretty standard fair as far as club remixes go, but I’ll be darned if you can resist the child-like joy exuded by Iggy in the video. Can you believe that he’s 61? I feel like hitting the gym.

The BPA – He’s Frank

If you feel so inclined there is now an offer, in the U.S. only, to pre-order the album “I Think We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat” now at Amazon.

The remix contest that they had going has also ended, so it’s only a matter of time before the blog-o-sphere is saturated with even more BPA remixes.

If you haven’t been BPA contested out yet… there is also a contest to create the best “Toe Jam” video here.

Phew, they are busy!

The BPA release video for "Seatle"

The Brighton Port Authority has released a new video for their song “Seattle” featuring Emmy the Great. The video production technique is subtle and captivating, the song is soothing and swingin’, and I couldn’t think of a better song to listen to in the wake of this historic election. A new day is dawning in America, indeed.

The BPA’s Funky Freakfest "Toe Jam" and Censor Bar Art

The BPA, or Brighton Port Authority, is a new project headed up by Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) and features the talent of David Byrne, Dizzee Rascal, Emmy The Great, Iggy Pop, Pete York, Jack Penate, Jamie T, Martha Wainwright, Conan, Olly Hite, Lateef, Ashley Beedle, Simon Thornton, Thomas Gandey, and Justin Robertson.

The lead single off of this album is entitled “Toe Jam” and features David Byrne as well as Dizzee Rascal on vocals. All of the manic energy you’d expect from a Fatboy Slim track are present packaged neatly with feel good horns and the happiest bass you’ll hear this year. David Byrne is on a roll right now, first he releases one of the best albums of the year with Brian Eno, and now he’s collaborating with Fatboy Slim and a host of other talent. His performance on this is reminiscent of his later talking heads work, and when Dizzee pops up to deliver a couple lines he just kills it. This whole affair is something like:

“Hey you got Talking Heads in my Fatboy Slim!”

“I know, and here’s a pinch of Dizzee Rascal to spice it up!”

“Oh Yeah, This is Fantastic!”

The video for this single is even more engaging. It features a 70′s style freakfest shown on T.V. Since it’s on TV there are a plethora of censor bars, but the use of them is unlike any use of a censor bar you’ve ever seen before. This project created a new medium; “Censor Bar Art”. You’ve got to see it to believe it.

The AZLTRON Music Project

I’ve been planning on making a music project with a few other people this summer. It’s going to be a combination of raw punky sounds with some electronics and beats. Honestly, I can’t wait to see what kind of stuff we can come up with. As a first step I compiled this play list of punky guitar based rock, because it’s important to have a raw thrashy element to your lo fi electronica.

01. Spoon – Quincy Punk Episode

02. Joy Division – Disorder

03. Les Savy Fav – Hit By Car

04. LCD Soundsystem – Movement

05. Pixies – Planet of Sound

06. Iggy Pop – The Passenger

07. Sonic Youth – A Master Dik (Beatbox Version)

08. Modern Lovers – Pablo Picasso

09. Dinosaur Jr. – Kracked

10. Sonic Youth – I Dreamed I Dream
