Kimono Kops have realeased 2 new remixes, one of Cut Copy’s “Hearts on Fire” and Goldfrapp’s “A & E”. The Cut Copy remix has all the playfulness of a video game soundtrack while the Goldfrapp remix infuses the psyachadelic original with a thump that’s more reminiscent of her ‘Supernature’ work, the last 40 seconds are gold.

Kimono Kops are Outside
Thomas of Kimono Kops has been inspired by the coming spring, and like usual, he’s been busy, producing the classic track “Outside” by the enigmatic pop artist George Michael. Like always the rave synths swirl and crunch over a reworked beat. Now if only he could share a little springtime with the rest of us…

Kimono Kops once again drop a killer remix of an indie song. This time it’s Bloc Party’s “I still Remember” the U2 sustained notes are replaced with vintage synth in this incarnation and they create a delirious spinning dance number.

Kimono Cops Catch M.I.A. and Remix Her
Kimono Kops once again capture and release an excellent remix, this time of M.I.A.’s current “Boyz”. The vocals are chopped up and put over a steady bass line that peaks and troughs with plenty of synth accompaniment. Usually I don’t particularly care for M.I.A.’s music but this reworked track with it’s electro flavor is to my liking. It’s going on my running mix.

Beware of Dancing Poodles from the North
Today, Thomas Dören who is the German brains behind the brawn of techno project Kimono Kops, sent me two new remixes to review, and lo’ and behold one of them was Sally Shapiro who was featured on my Summer Dance Mix 2007 Mix. Not only that, but the remix of “Hold Me So Tight” features some slamming bass and synth reworks that would mix just fine with anyone’s weekend dance party mix CD. Also, it’s been brought to my attention that the band Great Northern is in a competition at Yahoo! to make an exclusive single for all on the internet to enjoy. Now, the last time I was involved in one of these online band competitions I was crushed that Elefant lost out to Eisley (So it’s been a while) but seeing as how there’s a mall close by me with the name “Great Northern” I feel a bit of home team camaraderie with the band.
