(New Music!) A Truly Beautiful Disaster Strikes Greece and London!
Gold seems to be a fashionable color for up and coming electro artists. First MSTRKRFT, then Heads We Dance, and now Truly Beautiful Disaster. The band is composed of one member from Greece and one from London. Combined they make the kind of electronica that makes me want to put on a cape and mask and fight crime with Hong Kong inspired impossible martial arts.

Edwin Van Cleef Remixes Data’s Rapture (ft. Sebastien Grainger)
Edwin Van Cleef has remixed the newest single from the up and coming French producer Data, “Rapture”. The song features Sebastien Grainger from Death From Above 1979 and some sublime retro synths and guitar work and if it’s possible, Van Cleef has injected the song with even more ideal 80′s nostalgia.

Walter Meego
Chicago based electro pop-group Walter Meego is comprised of Guitarist/singer Colin Yark and Keyboardist Justin Sconza. Imagine a quirky singer songwriter fuzed at the hip to a keyboard and drum machine; that comes pretty close to what Walter Meego sounds like. Just add in some sweet guitar riffs, some vocoder, and it becomes pretty clear that Walter Meego is a winner.

Does it Offend You Yeah?
Does it Offend You Yeah? is a UK band preying on the innocent with their electronic/dance influenced indie rock. Their debut “You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into” teeters on the edge of crazed samples and angry distorted bass ala MSTRKFRT or Justice and emotional charged dance punk akin to The Rapture or Bloc Party. This schizophrenic nature gives the band a depth of sound beyond current musical trends and provides some interesting compositions and transitions.
The songs themselves are pretty bangin’ all around. As much as I love vocoder, I actually like it better when they don’t use the heavy electronics over their live rock sound. Don’t get me wrong, their use of vocoder and electronics is top notch, particularly on “Weird Science” but the standouts are the songs with unprocessed vocals like “Epic Last Song” and the most true return to form of Sebastien Grainger post DFA 1979 in “Let’s Make Out”. There’s even a a fantastic instrumental theme song to a movie that doesn’t exist, “Attack of the 60 ft. Lesbian Octopus”. In the end the album’s name serves as an accurate description of it’s sound, but as wildly as Does it Offend You Yeah? switches between electro and dance punk it’s all dance music of superior quality.

Laromlab
Laromlab produces the funkiest sounds you’ll hear this year made off of 8-bit machines and vintage keyboards. Imagine a more coherent Crystal Castles with less screaming and the hardest working analog bass in electronic dance music and you’re coming close to what LaromLab sounds like.
In August the fine music blog MissingToof posted some covers that LaromLab did of Daft Punk favorites “Around the World” and “Aerodynamic”, they were soon taken down on some legality, but the fact that they were released into the public consciousness cannot be undone. The covers are used often to get the L.A. and San Francisco night life riled up. Like in this video of DJ AM playing their around the world cover in front of MSTRKRFT.
After you’re done enjoying how drunk these party goers are there’s also a video of LaromLab himself introducing you to his methods of music making.
