Fang Island and Joy Formidable Rock Rochester

Fang Island

Fang Island at the Waterstreet Club, Rochester NY, Sep 30, 2011

Fang Island rocked the house at the club at Water Street Music Hall. Their dynamic and uplifting songs made my evening, for one, more enjoyable. Of course it is always nice to be in the city of Rochester. They brought all of that neo-classical-rock-out-euphoria that can be found on their disk, and ‘Daisy’ live did not disappoint.

The Joy Formidable

The Joy Formidable at the Water Street Music Hall, Sep 30, 2011

The Joy Formidable brought all of the sound that you might expect, and the lead singer reminded me of my favorite art professor, Debbie Harry, and Maja Ivarrson from The Sounds all rolled into one by the way she bounced around the stage and spoke in an adorable British accent. The Joy Formidable are a seasoned rock act and it’s clear to see that from their confident stage presence, but for me their stuff started to all sound the same. They are worth seeing though, fo’ sho’.
